The new season tie-dye

Sometime in the near future, I'll be doing some dyeing. I've got some white singlets but I need to collect a few more bits and pieces before I'm ready. I figure I'll at least be doing a green. Other colours dependant on what I've got.

If you are interested in throwing a few things into the bucket (tied or not), then let me know and we can arrange a good time.

Can I bring miss 6 for some batik or tie-dying type crafty activities? She might enjoy that - there's mess involved! Feel free to say no if you'd rather not have a small person around dye...

I need to find some plain white t-shirts. I don't know how much success I'm going to have, but I'll give it a try. If I find some I will send them down for some tie dyeing. I will get a couple for the Jmeister as payment for your hard work.

Isn't it just hard to find plain white out there...especially for kids!

You can get really good effects with light coloured shirts too. Just make sure they are cotton (the stitching thread never is, and will stay white) The double colour effect is triffic.

Yes, Miss 6 is very welcome to help. It will give us the required motivation to get started. Last time, Tina was the motivating force. Everything was tied and all materials were to hand, but we needed a small catalyst to start the reaction.

I will look for suitable t-shirts tomorrow. There is a place called Cotton-On kids at Belco which might have something. Or it could be really expensive. We will see.

According to the bonds website I should be able to buy plain white t shirts up to size 2.

Bonds is the sort of thing you want. (but I haven't had much luck in the outlet shops I've tried recently)

Or try $2 shops - they sometimes sell cheap small shirts.

I guess that's one way to really have Persmonster stand out in Beijing! Count me in!

Found some white t-shirts in Big W. Bonds do make white shirts, but they are very hard to find! I'm not sure whether the shops don't order them, or if there is a secret order of mums who tie dye...

I'm thinking the weekend of the 20th and 21st Oct.

We have two buckets and each dye bath takes an hour plus tying and untying time. And then there is washing the clothes to take out excess dye.

If we want to more than two colours then it will take a morning or two.

So early morning saturday (and I do mean early, say 8 or 9 - we all have kids!) is the plan. I want a green dye but I haven't decided what the other colour should be.

Need to get more yellow dye and some cheap adult sizes t-shirts before then...
