Fund raising goes hi-tech

I got an email from the younger brother on the weekend. The elder neice is doing a read-a-thon to raise money for MS. I'm all for anything that encourages people to read so I signed up for a token amount.

What amuses me is that it is no longer about wandering the local neighbourhood looking for sponsors. You can now fleece family all over the world and you can sponsor them through a credit card.

It seems a little odd, but I'm sure I'll appreciate it when it comes time for me to beg to friends on my kid's behalf.
